In her œuvre contemporary artist Eva Moll evolves an iconography using hot colors in a linear language that is at once glamorous, bold and feminine. An iconography she brings to life in her works on paper and canvas as well as performances, videos and installations. Moll is one of those artists heading towards innovative definitions of artistic intent that goes beyond her own artistic creation and studio production. Through her art she wants to experience and explore the structures and processes of the cultural activities she works in. With exhibitons and performances in Europe and the United States Eva Moll moves in context of high-, popular- and sub-culture. She lives and works in New York City and Frankfurt/ Main with studios in Brooklyn and Offenbach. Where she's hosting open studio events.
For the past ten years most of her body of works tie to the self-reflective art persona "Eve" that she stages with context-dependant attributes and enviroments. In her flat works "Eve" appears as self-portrait, the artist's alter-ego or comic-like super-heroine combined with autobiographical, art historical, bibilical and/or mythological places, figures and themes. In more provocative performances Moll dressed to play "Eva Apple" who was acting out at contemporary art venues like documenta 12 in Kassel, Art Forum Berlin and Armory Show in New York blurring the line of a super-heroine and/or a female villain. In the happening "All about Eve and the Big Apple" (2007) the art figure "Eve" was played by artist Rainbow Girl who danced in front of one of Moll's large-scale New York Cityscapes, after she body-painted her live in a packed German Gallery. Besides her regular studio, exhibition and performance work, Moll is not only an artist but also a curator and directed several exhibitions including "Gathering of the Art Stars" at the CB's 313 Gallery in New York City (2004), "Earth Girl in The Big City" (2007) at the Galerie Kunst Raum Mato in Offenbach and "Summer of Love" (2008) at Planet Vivid Gallery in Frankfurt/ Main. Since 2006 she is also the proud owner of a growing collection of emerging contemporary art named in memory of her mother: "The Doris Moll Collection".
